What a season we have shaping up. I mentioned last week how close a season it looks like we are going to have. This was evident last week with three games decided by golden points. There are some cracking matches this week which again could go either way. The King tipped pretty well last week hopefully he can do the same this week.
Lets get into it!
Broncos V Wests Tigers
The young Broncos look like they are going to be inconsistent this season. When they are on they look amazing but they have put in a couple of shockers. Pangai Jr is suspended this week for a shocking late hit on Cooper Cronk. Anthony Seibold really needs to instill some discipline into his players or they could have a disappointing season.
The Tigers defence has been miserly so far this season giving up only 11 points per game. However they are struggling to put a decent score on the board. They only managed eight points against Penrith last week.
I am going to go for the Broncos at home to bounce back this week and defeat the Tigers in a close one.
Tip: Broncos/Over 38.5 – $2.60 @ NedsBet now at Neds
Titans V Panthers
This is a must win match for the Titans. If they cannot notch a win their season is done and dusted. You cannot start a season 0-5 at this level, that is uncompetitive. They seem to put together some good sets but cannot control the ball when it counts.
The Panthers were lucky to get the win last week against the Tigers. The Tigers will be kicking themselves, they probably should have won that match.
It is very difficult to select any of these sides with any degree of confidence. However I am going to go for the Titans at home. As I mentioned earlier this is a must win for the Titans. I believe their pride may get them over the line at home.
Tip: Titans – $2.32 @ NedsBet now at Neds
Cowboys V Storm
The Storm were tested last week in what was a terrific performance from the young Bulldogs outfit. Melbourne very rarely put in two bad performances in a row. This could be ominous for the Cowboys. Vunivalu misses this match due to suspension, however such is the depth of Melbourne Addo Carr returns to take his place.
Paul Green is showing a lot of faith in his players. He has only made one change for this match. His patience will be sorely tested if they lose again in this match. Michael Morgan really needs to take this team on his shoulders and lead the way.
It is hard to see any other outcome than a Melbourne win. They have won the last eight clashes and with Cameron Smith looking to break the points scoring record its Melbourne for me.
Tip: Storm -7.5 – $1.80 @ NedsBet now at Neds
Rabbitohs V Warriors
This should be a cracking match. It is shaping as a very physical encounter. The Rabbitohs went down to Manly last week due to a Cherry Evans golden point. It was a shock and South Sydney will be looking to hit back hard in this one.
The Warriors responded last week with a convincing win over the disappointing Titans. However their form on the road has been very mediocre. They also have a very poor record against the Bunnies losing seven of the last eight meetings between the teams.
I am going to select the Rabbitohs to hit back hard and notch up a convincing win.
Tip: Rabbitohs -8.5 – $1.90 @ NedsBet now at Neds
Knights V Sea Eagles
This is shaping as another nail biter. The Knights went down in one of the golden point matches with Corey Norman getting the job done. However it was pleasing to see Kalyn Ponga at full back and David Klemmer is settling in nicely at the Knights.
It was a superb win by Manly last week. I would guess that 99% of people would have expected the Rabbitohs to keep rolling along. The Sea Eagles were superb and I believe they deserved their win.
Manly will enter this game full of confidence, but I believe The Knights are building something despite last weeks loss. That is why I am going to tip them to win this match in what could another golden point match
Tip: Knights- $1.55 @ NedsBet now at Neds
Sharks V Roosters
Paul Gallen and Shaun Johnson return to bolster the Sharks. They will be required as this is shaping up as a very tough match for Cronulla. They have lost the last three matches between the clubs. The Sharks are too inconsistent for me.
The Roosters look to be building into the season nicely. Cooper Cronk returned last week and was very impressive. James Tedesco is in superb form and Latrell Mitchell although he is conceding a lot of penalties is a superstar.
I am going to select the Roosters and it is my best bet for the week.
Tip: Best Bet Roosters – 6.5 – $1.90 @ NedsBet now at Neds
Dragons V Bulldogs
The Bulldogs have been brave and were a bit unlucky against the Storm last week. Dean Pay is doing a very impressive job with his young side. The injury to Dylan Napa is a massive blow to the Bulldogs. On the flipside the return of Tyson Frizzel is a massive inclusion for the Dragons.
We will learn a lot about the Bulldogs this week. Can they string three good performances together. If they do it will be very encouraging for Canterbury fans.
I think the Dragons are laying a good platform for a good season and I believe they will have too much class for the Bulldogs in a tight match.
Tip: Dragons -6.5 – $2.00 @ NedsBet now at Neds
Raiders V Eels
The Raiders were very impressive last week. They dismantled the Cowboys in Nth Qld. with a 30 -12 victory. They will be chock full of confidence going into this match at home and deservedly so. The contingent of Englishmen have been getting the job done.
Parramatta do not have a good record in the nations capital and will be taking on a confident Raiders side. they have not won in Canberra since 2006. However I get the feeling that the Eels are building a decent side. I have been blown away with the effect Blake Ferguson is having on this Eels outfit.
Canberra will be confident but i am going to select the Eels to get the job done here in another close encounter.
Tip: Eels – $2.34 @ NedsBet now at Neds
