The King was in good tipping form last week. He only missed the Broncos upset win over the Roosters. On reflection the win was probably not as much of an upset as it looked. The Roosters have been up for a long period and the Broncos look as though they are improving. They have won their last two and will be looking to keep it going this week against the Warriors.
Hopefully we can keep this tipping form going this week.
Let’s get into this weeks matches.
Eels V Panthers
The Eels will be glad to get back to Bankwest Stadium this week. They are making it a fortress having won both games there and scoring 40+ points on each occasion. Last weeks game against the Cowboys was very close and Parramatta will be disappointed that they did not snatch the win. They have made a couple of changes this week with Blake Ferguson moving to the centres. I can see Ferguson having a big game in this one.
Penrith are probably the most disappointing team so far this season. On paper they have a good lineup but unfortunately the games are played on grass. I am not convinced by Ivan Cleary’s tactic of dropping big name players then bringing them back after one week. I believe you back them or give them a couple of weeks in the twos.
I cannot go for the Panthers in this match. They need to show something before I can tip them. I am going for the Eels in this one and Blake Ferguson to score a try or two.
Tip: Eels 1-12 @ $2.90 – NedsBet now at Neds
Sea Eagles V Titans
Manly are on a roll. Des Hasler has got the players sticking to a game plan which is not complicated. They have won six of the last eight games. Two of those wins were against top four teams in the Rabbitohs and Raiders. That is very impressive form. They go in with an unchanged line up this week and that is ominous for the Titans.
The Titans are a frustrating side to watch this season they have good spells but cannot sustain it for 80 mins. they led by 16 points last week against the young Bulldogs side but could not get the job done.
I highlighted Addin Fonua Blake last week in my preview and he was unbelievable. I think he will have another good game this week and Manly will take the points at Lottoland.
Tip: Sea Eagles -6.5 @ $1.90 – NedsBet now at Neds
Knights V Roosters
Newcastle have found some form and are marching up the ladder. They sit in sixth place having won four of the last five matches. Mitchell Pearce and Kalyn Ponga as I mentioned last week are inspiring their team mates. You would have to think they are a real chance at home on Friday night.
The Roosters were knocked off by the Broncos last week but not disgraced. They were narrowly beaten while not playing well. Boyd Cordner returns this week and the Skipper is a massive inclusion. This match should be quite a spectacle with Ponga and Latrell strutting their stuff.
I am going to go for the Roosters to bounce back this week and defeat Newcastle in an entertaining match.
Tip: Roosters -6.5 @ $1.90 – NedsBet now at Neds
Raiders V Cowboys
Canberra were brave in last weeks loss to the Rabbitohs. They had a depleted line up but managed to push Sth Sydney all the way in a tight match. On reflection they should have probably won the match but for a couple of bad decisions. Josh Hodgson is having a superb season and the Cowboys will have to try and counteract his influence.
Nth Queensland secured a handy win over Paramatta last week. Taumalolo is almost back to his best after a long lay off. It is no coincidence that they have won three of the last five with the bull back in the side. Matt Scott is also getting into some handy form and must be areal chance of an Origin call up.
This is a tough one to call however I am going to go for an upset with a Cowboys win at good odds.
Tip: Cowboys @ $2.70 – NedsBet now at Neds
Warriors V Broncos
This should be a tough match. We have two big tough forward packs who will not be holding back. Both sides are getting back on track having won their last two.
NZ Warriors will be desperate to win this one to keep them in finals contention. Kodi Nikorima will be the focal point of this game. Brisbane showed him the door and that decision is questionable. He has settled in beautifully at the Warriors and will be looking for a big one here.
Brisbane notched up a superb win over the Roosters with Payne Haas starring. This young guy looks like a superstar in the making. He is being touted as an Origin player and I agree with that view and would have him in.
This is shaping as a close match that could go either way. I struggled with this one but I believe the Warriors may have a little bit too much experience for the Broncos.
Tip: Warriors @ $1.82 – NedsBet now at Neds
Rabbitohs V Tigers
Sth Sydney had a tough battle eventually prevailing against a plucky Raiders outfit. They are on top of the ladder and deservedly so. They have a superb forward pack led by Sam Burgess and Damian Cook is my favourite player to watch this season.
West Sydney look as though they may be starting to struggle when they come up against the top teams. Robbie Farah and Benji Marshall started the season on fire however it will be interesting to see if they can keep it going.
I cannot look past the Rabbitohs in this one and they are my best bet for the week. Wayne Bennett is doing an amazing job.
Tip: Best Bet -8.5 @ $2.00- NedsBet now at Neds
Bulldogs V Storm
Canterbury had a meritorious win last week over coming from behind to defeat the Titans. They are a young side who will be up and down but are looking as if they are on an upward trajectory. Kieran Foran has been leading the side impressively since returning from injury.
Melbourne have not been their dominant self so far this season and have looked vulnerable at times. They got over the line last week against the Tigers but were not impressive. The shining light again last week for Melbourne was young Ryan Pappenhuyzen. He drops back to the bench this week due to the return of Jahrome Hughes however I think he will feature in this match.
I cannot go past the Storm here. Craig Bellamy will be looking for a big show from his players before Origin. I believe he will get a response and Melbourne will win this match.
Tip: Storm 13+ @ $2.30- NedsBet now at Neds
Dragons V Sharks
St George have only won one of their last five. They need a win to keep their hopes of playing finals a realistic option. Paul McGregor has run out of patience with a couple of players. He has dropped Matt Dufty and Mikaela Ravalawa. This seems a bit harsh as Dufty has been playing well in most games.
Cronulla will be confident and come in with an unchanged side. I believe this is a show of confidence by John Morris and I like this. The Sharks were good in round nine and the players deserve a chance to redeem themselves after losing to an in form Manly.
This is very tough to call however I believe the Dragons are due to bounce back and I am going to tip them.
