What a round we had last week. The Storm and Roosters played out a beauty with the young superstar Latrell kicking the golden point. It would be no surprise to see these two sides contesting the Grand Final. The Eels celebrated the opening of Bankwest Stadium with a thrashing of the Tigers.
Looks like it will be another tight round this week so hopefully we can select some winners.
Lets get into it!
Roosters V Dragons
The Roosters were a bit patchy last week against Melbourne. However they left with the two points which is all that matters. Both of these teams are in a good run of form. The Roosters have won five in a row and the Tigers have won the last four.
Luke Keary is a big out for the Roosters with concussion but they should be able to cover him. The Dragons go into this one unchanged from the team who defeated Manly.
I cannot go past the Roosters in this one. They look as though their title defence is gathering momentum and Cooper Cronk is looking to be in top form. Latrell Mitchell is simply a superstar so its the Roosters for me.
Tip: Roosters -6.5 @ $1.90 @ NedsBet now at Neds
Storm V Warriors
The Storm will be looking to strike back after going down in a golden point thriller last week. The Storm rarely lose two in a row and I don’t think that will change this week. The Storm will be looking to get off to a better start this week after they were jumped by the Roosters last week.
Th Warriors have not beaten Melbourne since 2015. They have got some amazing players like Roger Tuivasa Sheck and Blake Green. However they cannot be trusted. I was very bullish on them early in the season but the inconsistency that plagues them has returned.
They are a dangerous opponent but I cannot see the Warriors defeating the Storm. I am confident the Storm will bounce back and are my best bet of the week.
Tip: Best Bet Storm/over 39.5 @ $2.10 @ NedsBet now at Neds
Bulldogs V Cowboys
The Cowboys had a good win over the Warriors last week. Jason Taumololo has been named on the bench which is a massive boost for the Cowboys. Josh McGuire was superb last week and will be hoping to continue in the same vein.
The Bulldogs have not defeated the Cowboys at ANZ stadium since 2012. The young Bulldogs are making progress under Dean Pay but are leaking too many points. they have conceded 36 points in three matches this season.
I believe the Cowboys have the better squad and should prevail in this match.
Tip: Cowboys @ $1.88 @ NedsBet now at Neds
Panthers V Rabbitohs
Phil Gould has departed from Penrith, no one is sure what happened but it should give Ivan Cleary some clear air to operate. Last week the Panthers led 20- 6 over the Sharks then the wheels fell off and the Sharks rattled in three unanswered tries to take the points.
This suggests a lack of leadership at crucial points in the match which needs to be addressed quick smart .
The Rabbitohs look to be the stronger team here. Sam Burgess is having a superb season and should lead South Sydney to a win in this one.
Tip: Rabbitohs-2.5 @ $1.95 @ NedsBet now at Neds
Tigers V Titans
This game for some reason is being played in Tamworth. It is an X factor when considering the winner of this match. The Titans have a good record against the Tigers having won five of the last seven meetings between these sides. Kevin Proctor is a massive inclusion for the Titans after missing out last week.
The Tigers were absolutely smashed last week by Parramatta conceding over 50 points. It will be interesting to see how Robbie Farah pulls up after missing most of last weeks match.
This should be close however I am going to select the Titans at what looks like generous odds.
Tip: Titans@ $2.18 @ NedsBet now at Neds
Broncos V Sharks
The Broncos are probably the most disappointing team of the season so far. They moved on Wayne Bennett and brought in Anthony Seibold. Many people are now questioning the wisdom of that move. The Broncos desperately need a win to keep their dwindling finals hopes alive.
Matt Gillet is improving as the season goes on and Pangai Jr returns from suspension and James Roberts is named in the starting line up.. They just have to get a win on the board in this home match.
The Sharks were superb coming back to defeat the Knights last week. The old warrior Paul Gallen was superb last week inspiring his team mates. However the Sharks have not won at Suncorp since 2014.
I feel that the Sharks may have spent a lot of petrol tickets last week in their comeback win. I am going to select the Broncos to get their season back on track with a win at home.
Tip: Broncos @$1.62 @ NedsBet now at Neds
Manly V Canberra
Manly were good last week and were unlucky to lose against the Dragons. They have tightened up defensively and have only conceded 100 points in the six matches so far this season.
Canberra are on a roll and their backrow of Englishmen are looking awesome. They are a very mobile unit and look unstoppable. Defensively they have only conceded 66 points for the season and this points to a very close and tight match.
I am going to select the Raiders to continue their great start to the season and get over the Sea Eagles in a nail biter.
Tip: Raiders @$1.75 @ NedsBet now at Neds
Knights V Eels
The Eels were awesome last week destroying the Tigers in their first match at the new Bankwest Stadium. They will chockful of confidence going into this match against a disappointing Knights outfit.
Blake Ferguson returns after missing last weeks match to further strengthen the Eels. Parramatta has surprisingly lost the last three matches between these teams.
The Knights were full of promise at the start of the season but are now sitting on one win and five losses. Something is not quite clicking for the Knights. Any team that has Kalyn Ponga, Mitchell Pearce and David Klemmer in their team should be playing better than the Knights are currently.
It is hard to look past a rampant Parramatta and I expect them to win this match.
Tip: Eels -2.5 – $1.85 @ NedsBet now at Neds
