What a season this is shaping up as. Canberra came back to earth with a bang last week after being on a roll. They fought back but just went down to Manly. It could be a loss that will not do them any harm, maybe they needed it? The Warriors battled bravely against Melbourne before going down to the golden point. This weeks big game is without doubt the Rabbitohs v Broncos, talk about a grudge match. The fixture this week includes a number of games that are very much in the balance.
Lets get into it!
Rabbitohs V Broncos
This the epitome of the grudge match. As we all know the two coaches swapped positions over the summer. Wayne Bennett is a bitter man and he will have the Rabbitohs well prepared for this one. Anthony Seibold is the coach under pressure. His move to the Broncos has not been successful so far. They picked up a handy win last week but are still languishing in tenth position on the ladder. Conversely Bennett has the Rabbitohs sitting nicely in third place.
Cody Nikorima is out for Brisbane and there are murmurings that he is poised to move to the Warriors. Young Thomas Dearden comes in for Nikorima but it looks like a big job for an 18 yrs old no matter how promising he is.
Both sides will be pumped for this clash however I am going to select the Rabbitohs to spoil Darius Boyd’s party in his 300th match.
Tip: Rabbitohs 1-12 @ $3.00 – NedsBet now at Neds
Cowboys V Titans
These sides have been very inconsistent so far this season. Both of them had handy leads in their games last week before collapsing to disappointing losses.
Paul Green looks to have upset some of his players by suggesting that they are playing themselves out of Origin contention. Jason Taumalolo has been named again as a reserve but Paul Green will not be taking any chances with his champion but it would be great to see him return. Jordan Kahu deputises at full back for Te Maire Martin who is suffering complications from a head knock.
The Titans have made a few changes. Dale Copley has been ruled out with a quad injury. However they regain Jarrod Wallace from suspension.
This looks like being a tight match but I am going to select the Cowboys to get over the line at home.

Sharks V Storm
The Sharks suffered a big blow in last weeks loss to the Broncos, losing Shaun Johnson with a hamstring. They will find it hard to cover a player who has been in great form. They only managed to score six points last week and looked flat. That type of performance will not get the job done against the Storm.
The Storm just manged to overcome a brave Warriors team last week. However that is what makes good teams, they get the points when not playing well.
The Storm rarely perform poorly for extended periods. So after losing to the Roosters then just getting over the line against the Warriors I am looking to them to bounce back this week. These teams have had some memorable matches of late, but I think Cronulla are too depleted with injury to trouble Melbourne.
Tip: Storm 1-12 @ $2.80 – NedsBet now at Neds
Raiders V Panthers
This game is taking place in Wagga Wagga which is only 160 km from Canberra virtually making it a home game for the Raiders. The duel between Jack Wighton and James Maloney will be crucial in the outcome of this one. The Panthers have only managed two wins for the season and you would think their finals chances are gone if they lose here. They just seem unable to run out a full 80 mins.
The Raiders momentum was halted last week going down by four points to the Sea Eagles. Jordan Rapana misses out this week due to rib injury. His place is taken by Bailey Simonsson who will be keen to make the most of his opportunity.
I am going to select Canberra to win here and effectively end the Panthers finals chances.
Tip: Raiders 1-12 @ 2.80 – NedsBet now at Neds
Sea Eagles V Bulldogs
Manly had a good win over the Raiders last week but it came at a massive cost. Daly Cherry Evans look likely to sit out for a number of weeks with an ankle injury. However I believe Kane Elgey and Lachlan Croker can be a good combination in the halves.
The Bulldogs will be full of confidence after last weeks win over the Cowboys. I really like what Dean Pay is doing with this young outfit. He has named an unchanged line up for this weeks match.
I think Manly are starting to hit some good form and are looking strong even without Tom Trbojevic.
The market is very close in this match which I find a bit surprising. I am going for Manly in this match.

Roosters V Wests Tigers
The Tigers were horrible a couple of weeks ago but bounced back to defeat the Titans last week. This inconsistency is becoming a habit and it must be addressed if they are to play in the finals. Even thought they won last week they were 14 points down at one point in the match. If they had been playing a better team than the Titans they would not have got back in the match.
The Roosters are rolling along nicely. Tedesco and Mitchell are having stellar seasons and are probably in the top ten players in the comp. They are sitting at the top of the ladder and have won their last five matches on the trot.
I can only see one outcome in this match and that is another win to the Roosters.
Tip: Roosters 13+ @ $1.95 – NedsBet now at Neds
Warriors V Knights
The Warriors were missing a number of their star players last week but they gave Melbourne a run for their money and were a bit unlucky to lose in the end. Roger Tuivasa Sheck and Blake Green will return for this match which makes it tough for the Knights.
Newcastle have lost nine of the last ten matches at Mt Smart Stadium and it is hard to see that changing this week. They have got a number of outstanding players however they are struggling to sustain any level of consistency.
It hard to tip against the Warriors in this match and I am not going to do it. NZ Warriors for me.
Tip: Warriors -4.5 @ $1.95 – NedsBet now at Neds
Eels V Dragons
This looms as the tightest game of the round. These teams sit fifth and eighth respectively on the ladder. Parramatta’s loss to the Knights was a disappointing effort and the need to bounce back this week. There is speculation surrounding Clint Gutherson’s future with the Eels and he has to put it out of his mind.
The battle between Mitchell Moses and Ben Hunt will go a long way to determine the outcome of this match. Hunt and Corey Norman looks like a good partnership for the Dragons.
James Graham is turning in another good season and needs ensure the forward pack maintain the pressure on the powerful Parramatta pack.
This game is very hard to call, however I think there are some worrying signs creeping into the Eels performance. This is the reason I am going to select the Dragons to win a close match.
