We head to Las Vegas for UFC 229 which is set to be the largest PPV the UFC has ever put on. Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov who are two of the biggest rivals in the UFC finally face off on October 6. Conor was stripped of his lightweight title 2 years ago and he’s back to regain his title from current 155lbs title holder Khabib Nurmagomedov.

We have a great card for UFC 229 so we’ll delve deeper into the main card fights and try to pick some winners.

Check out Ladbrokes UFC Markets, they are the recommended  bookie for your UFC bets, check out Ladbrokes here.

Kingpunters is the spot for your UFC 229 Betting tips.

Let’s get into it.

Conor McGregor V Khabib Nurmagomedov

Khabib and Conor are obviously bitter rivals which was solidified when McGregor threw a trolley through the window of the UFC bus whilst trying to get at Khabib. They finally get to settle their beef inside the Octagon at UFC 229.

Khabib obviously has great wrestling and has shown his dominance on the ground in all of his fights. When he is standing though it is a completely different story, he is slow and sloppy and is coming up against the best striker in the UFC in this fight.

Khabib’s record is questionable, he is 26-0 but he has never really fought any top level fighters, the majority of his wins are against russian fighters that no one has ever heard of. He beat Al Iaquinta for the Lightweight Title who was ranked all the way down at number 11 in the lightweight division. He has beaten Edson Barboza and Michael Johnson although those two fighters aren’t on McGregors level. In the Iaquinta fight it really showed how bad of a striker Khabib is and if this fight can be kept on the feet Khabib is in for a world of hurt. Khabib also telegraphs his takedown attempts but he is just so relentless with them that he makes them work.

The question is, will Khabib be able to take Conor down at will? I don’t think it will be that easy, I do believe he’ll get taken down throughout the fight but I think Conors framing, speed and timing will stuff many of the takedown attempts. Conor knows those takedown attempts will be coming and has been preparing for them.

I have Conor McGregor in this one, if he doesn’t get the KO, I believe he’ll get the decision.

Prediction: Conor McGregor to win – $2.30 @ Ladbrokes – BET HERE

Precision Prediction: Conor McGregor by flying knee KO in round 3.

I won’t be surprised if Conor catches Khabib with a flying knee as Khabib comes in for a predictable take down. Similar to what Yoel Romero knocked Chris Weidman out with.

Tony Ferguson V Anthony Pettis

Tony Ferguson returns after 4 months from a knee injury that ruled him out of his previously scheduled bout with Khabib Nurmagomedov which was for the lightweight title. Many people are saying he is coming back far too early from what was a serious knee injury and it won’t be healed properly. Anthony Pettis is looking to get his name back in the conversation for a Title shot.

Tony Ferguson is on a 10 fight win streak and I believe he would’ve taken the title had he have been fit to fight Nurmagomedov at UFC 223. What happened has happened and he is now back and looks hungrier than ever to get another title shot, he was ropeable that Dana White stripped him of his interim belt and he is back to get another shot at the strap.

Anthony Pettis has held the lightweight belt before way back in 2013, it is a different time now and the fighters are getting better. The fact that Pettis has lost to Dos Anjos, Eddie Alvarez, Edson Barboza, Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier in 5 of his last 8 fights means you could not pick Pettis. Ferguson is better than all of these guys and is dangerous from all avenues, he can knock you out, submit you or just last the distance and get the decision.

I think Pettis’s only hope in this fight is to target Fergusons dodgy knee and hope it blows out.

Prediction: Tony Ferguson to win by KO/TKO/SUB – $2.45 @ Ladbrokes – BET HERE

Tony Ferguson is a strange cat.

Ovince Saint Preux V Dominick Reyes

Dominick ‘the devastator’ Reyes is exactly that, a DEVASTATOR! he has 9 fights in mma and 8 of them have ended in the first round, mainly by Knock Out. He has deadly striking which overwhelms his opponents.

OSP is no slouch and took Jon Jones to a decision a couple of years back but he does have 11 losses on his record, 2 by submission and 2 by KO/TKO.

Dominick Reyes will look to stamp his authority on the UFC with an early KO of OSP so look for him to come hard out of the gate.

I have Dominick Reyes by KO in this one.

Prediction: Dominick Reyes to win by KO/TKO/SUB – $1.62 @ Ladbrokes – BET HERE

Derick Lewis V Alexander Volkov

A big heavyweight clash sees Derick ‘the Black Beast ‘ Lewis take on Alexander ‘Drago’ Volkov. Volkov has 4 inches on Lewis although only a 1″ reach advantage. He does have a 4″ leg reach advantage and will likely use his kicks to keep Derick from closing the distance.

I question Derick Lewis’s professionalism, he has admitted to not preparing as well as he should in the past. Volkov is a true professional and veteran of mma, I expect this to show in this fight. Volkov will likely tire the Black Beast out ad go for the Knock Out in the second or third.

Alexander Volkov by KO but this might go the distance.

Prediction: Alexander Volkov to win by KO/TKO/SUB – $2.88 @ Ladbrokes – BET HERE
